Come walk with Us !! Part Time Employment Opportunity:

 

The Leash Team is looking for part time dog walkers to be part of our canine family. If you are a human that has the following qualities we want to talk to you:

  • Love dogs and can handle being loved by dogs beyond measure

  • Enjoy being outdoors and walking 4-5 km a day

  • Calm and relaxed around dogs

  • Personable with customers and love customer service

  • Effective interpersonal skills

  • Flexibile, dependable  and a "Team Player"

  • Excellent oral communication

Dog Walker Skills & Competencies. To be successful in this role, you must have the following skills and qualities: 

  • Compassion: We must always treat the dogs you walk with care, kindness, and respect. These dogs are part of our family.

  • Patience: This is key to working with animals. As dog walkers we need to see the world through the eyes of our dogs.

  • Customer-service skills: We must keep our clients happy.  We listen and learn form our clients.

  • Reliability: Clients must be able to count on us to show up on time for walks. When we take care of our clients dogs, we take care of our client family.

  • Physical Strength and Stamina: We must be in good physical shape and able to handle larger dogs if needed and keep control of a leash if a dog pulls. We must also be able to be on our feet and walk for at least 80 minutes at a time.

  • Excellent Driver:  A conscious careful driver with a clean driver’s abstract. To be insurable we must be over 25 years of age. 

  • Bondable: we must be bondable.

Compensation:

Once fully trained and certified, pay is $21 per hour plus commission opportunities which can easily expand it to around $30-$35 per hour.

Training:

There will be a paid 2-week training and certification program.

Tools and equipment provided:  

Training (Dog Walking Certification and Pet First Aid and CPR certification), Vehicle, Insurance, GPS for dogs (no loss stress), leashes etc. will be provided.

Please note we abide by all municipal regulations and work closely with our municipal by-law enforcement and municipal canine volunteers

What a day would look like:

After Training and customer (human and dog) familiarization you will be responsible for picking up 8 dogs, taking them for a 1 hour walk at an off leash dog park and returning them to their homes. This would involve a commitment of 3 hours a day 5 days a week. It can be mornings 8:30-11:30 or afternoons 12:00-3:00.
